Bye, Bye 2008, Hello 2009!

Shuntavi invited her parents to contribute some poetry to say goodbye to 2008 and welcome the new year.

2008 was truly a year of change.
Last year, 2-3h/night was our normal range.
Now from 8 to 6 we are able to sleep,
Not until the sun is up to our bed does Tavi leap!
-
With this Return to our own Nocturne
Our days have come back to life,
Our brains can once again learn,
I am able to have time with my wife! *
-
Our family is full of love and hope,
In 2009, may this help us all cope.
-
-
-
-
*and for those who are wondering, she is still my "special friend",
from our beginning, to the end)

D:
-
"Woah, it's icy, " tavi says as she sets out down the sidewalk
crushing snowballs with her light-up boots
-
we've been cozying up in our apartment drinking warm tea
and playing hide-in-seek in our camping tent
we set up in the living room
but adventure calls, the new year begins
-
she's not two but does know a few things,
like who our new president is: "Obama!"
and that her baby cousin, Owen, is a boy
"Owen, bo-oy, mama". Ok, yes he is, baby.
-
She knows that mommy goes to work three days a week
to do something involving "babies"
though she might not realize that we'll be in Cambridge a while more
Since her daddy just accepted a two-year fellowship
-
When we're at work, she goes to "Luna and Anya's house",
the kids of our wonderful neighbor whose mother takes care of her.
She's truly excited to do "tiao, tiao, tiao" and hold her "wa wa"
(which means jumping and babydoll in Chinese)
-
Surely, this is an adventure, this moment and every day.
